Ayurveda Postpartum Doula Training
with Adena Bright and Allison Morse

May 13-17, 2024
9:00-3:30 pm each day

Serve the women and families in your community during a time of huge transition and growth by becoming an Ayurveda Postpartum Doula. The birth of a child is one of the most powerful and life-changing events in a woman’s life, and the care she receives during the immediate postpartum window can set her up for faster healing, easier mothering, and long-lasting well-being. During this training you will learn about the postpartum phase through the lens and language of Ayurveda, while receiving training in traditional postpartum care practices, balanced with practical understanding for modern women.

The Sacred Window of postpartum is considered to be 42 days, and it is said that how the woman receives care in those early days sets her up for the next 42 years of health. It is time for us to take back postpartum; to learn how to rest deeply, receive nourishment, and experience the power of being present.

Program Agenda:

  • Ayurveda 101

  • Principles of postpartum care in Ayurveda

  • Protecting the Sacred Window of postpartum

  • Understanding postpartum hormonal changes

  • Ethics and preparing and supporting the partner, home and family

  • Cooking and meal planning for postpartum

  • Medicinal oil and ghee making

  • Postpartum Abhyanga Training

  • Scope of practice, what’s really needed

  • Plans/offerings/business

Scope of Practice:

Graduates will be able to offer postpartum support services including in-home Abhyanga massage, meals and meal planning as a business or as a gift — safely, within the Ayurvedic lense. Graduates are not considered Ayurvedic Health Counselors or Practitioners, nor are they able to treat or diagnose/assess imbalance from Western or Eastern perspective, unless within a separately held license/profession or certification. This could complement your practice as an Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Practitioner or Doctor, herbalist, massage therapist, nurse, midwife, birth doula, or other healthcare provider. Vermont does not require a state license to do massage therapy. This training can be applied toward NAMA credit hours.

COST: $1195 Paid in Full ($1,295 with payment plan)
